65k people evacuated from the Santa Cruz mountains, 50 thousand something acres burnt/burning, sofar they counted 50 buildings that were destroyed, the entirety of the Crest Ranch has been burnt to the ground, Big Basin and all the structures have burned to the ground. The redwoods are scorched, but they will survive another fire. The entire UCSC campus has been evacuated, Scotts Valley has been evacuated, I hear talks of evacuating all of Santa Cruz county. Meanwhile SC officials are telling all non SC residents to leave the county, because they need extra space to shelter evacuees from the mountains. Officials predicting it'll be "weeks, if not months" before residents can come back into the zone. My inlaws house is still standing, on a sliver of land, flanked on all sides by fire.
