Even though Biden is about as inspiring as watching paint dry he has now officially got more votes than any candidate in the history of the USA.
And this election was the highest turnout election in percentage terms since the beginning of the 20th century.
So the idea that Dems fell short of expectations because they failed to motivate people isn't really accurate.
The reality, which in some ways is much worse, seems to be that massive numbers of Americans including people who never voted before turned out to vote for Trump.
Dems overwhelmed them with even more turnout, but by a smaller margin than expected.
