Heard back from an outfit I've been sporadically interviewing with since December (3 different interviews with three different people since Dec) today, and the hiring manager wants to have a 30-min call with me this week.
Because I've grown exceptionally bitter, pessimistic, and cynical in the last few years, I can't help but think the purpose of this call will be to tell me I didn't get the job. In which case, I kind of resent that; just tell me in an email and fuck off.
But, then, that wouldn't be typical, right? Scheduling a 30-min call just to fuck someone off.
Meh.
- How about be optimistic 'cuz 30 min call means you might got the job, not to let you go lol
they usually use email for that or straight ghost yougrafician - you got this continuity!renderedred
- sounds very promising, all the bestfadein11
- No one schedules a call to say you didn’t get the job. Good luck!Gnash
- Thanks, fellas.
Actually, I don't think I could think of a bigger dick move than for an HR person to ask about availability because the ...Continuity - ... hiring person wants to have a call, just to use that call to say you didn't get the job. That would be fucking horrible.Continuity
- But, hey, anything's possible. People are cunts.Continuity
- Well then it’s best you didn’t get the job, then!Gnash
- I've had 30min calls schedule to tell me I wasn't suitable for role. So it happens...shapesalad
- ^ And that's a dick move.Continuity
- Maybe its a special naked callmicrokorg
- yeah man I don't think it would be a 30 min call to say you didn't get the job. Has to be positive! Best of luck!pedromendez
- Well, I just got the email invite. Tomorrow @ 14.00. On Zoom, not the phone. Ugh.Continuity
- Stream it on Twitch.palimpsest
- Had that recently. Wouldn’t tell me on a phone call after really long hiring process. Met for a coffee and was offered the job after a half hour chat. Good lucksausages
- Must be quite an outfit...StoicLevels
- obviously fans of the big unveil.monNom
- In my experience, a phone call is a good sign. If you didn't get the job, its easier for the employer to just send an email. Stay positive - you got this!desmo
- gonna need an updateshellie
- You'll have one in about 2'40".
Sigh.Continuity - 2 hrs 40 min, rather.
Used the wrong symbols.Continuity - Pffft.
It was a follow up call to get my impressions on everything so far. Ten people in the final shortlist, and they want to make a decision end of March ...Continuity - ... for a July (!) start.Continuity
- Jesus are you kidding me?shellie
- I think its point blank rude to interview if you won't be filing the position for months. I just heard back from a company I interviewed with in October!!!shellie
- the only good thing about a july start -- if you get the gig, obvs -- would be the stress-free time off until thenGnash
- Lol did you tell them that’s a terrible way to secure good candidates. They’re ensuring they only hire people with no other options. Idiots.nb
- @Continuity it's okay, we have 2 ppl in the pipeline with the 1st interview in January, when it wasn't even certain that we should arrange office space for themsted
- We have to fill 6 places with those two so they have to be properly picked. They are on a different level, which appears on their salary as well.sted
- How about be optimistic 'cuz 30 min call means you might got the job, not to let you go lol
