    Do you think that white people using the lighter shade emojis in apps like Slack or WhatsApp instead of the default yellow ones is a bit off?

    I totally get the representation of minorities in emoji sets and the use of them and am glad my black colleagues are represented.

    But I cautiously stick to the default, being white. It just feels inappropriate to consciously choose a lighter skin tone.

    I know it’s only an emoji. Nobody’s losing sleep over it. Just curious.

    • I'm not a Pacman so I choose a closer shade to my own. Except when I think it's amusing to needlessly appropriate a darker shade than my own.Nairn
