amazon constantly promising me next day delivery and then adjusting it back to the following day after I place the order.

Don't tell me I can get it tomorrow if I can't fucking get it tomorrow. I'll go to the damn store!

    • I cancel the order every time they pull that.lemmy_k

    • the only way amazon will stop fucking people is if they do actually go to the store, rather than threaten to.Fax_Benson

      Stop buying from Amazon, people.

    • i don't have a car, so things like pet supplies are principally what I buy from Amazon. Petco does have free delivery now so maybe I'll stop...sarahfailin
    • fuck. amazon. There's literally zero reason to use them.section_014
    • I love Amazon's hub. No need to go to the fucking post office.i_was
    • Nairn, tell me where I can get a 1 gallon can of oil based varnished in my state besides Amazon. Or a box of 1000 T15 bugle head screws?lemmy_k
    • There are no other retailers in your state or means of ordering from the manufacturer? is Amazon literally the only internet company available? I suspect not.Nairn
    • I mean - you're in California, the world's fourth largest economy, home of the internet, and you're telling me Amazon's the only place you can buy from? Crikey.Nairn
    • I admit - I've used them for three purchases from companies that use them as their storefront - twice for the same last minute order - over the last decade.Nairn
    • amazon will kill everything if you let it.Fax_Benson
    • I wish I didn't have to use Amazon, but with the ongoing death of retail, my local options are forcing me to go online more and more. :/monospaced
    • There's nothign wrong with online - it's often a lifeline for small retail shops to sell further afield (wasn't that half the point of the internet?).Nairn
    • Around here, when the local shop closes, so does their online storefront in my experience. Amazon, sadly, is a last bastion for so many things, and I hate that.monospaced
    • there's a reason they're closing. paying a non-amazon premium is worth it in the long run, otherwise the internet will go the way of the high street.Fax_Benson
    • amazon is the last bastion because it has killed everything else. that's its business model.Fax_Benson
    • Nairn, the state of CA has decided retailers can't stock 1gal cans. No one else will ship. You could always deliver to me from another state for free.lemmy_k
    • That sounds like a specific edge case that could probably still be solved by not shopping with Amazon, even if it costs a bit more.Nairn
    • Sure, look into that for me. You can pay the difference.lemmy_k
    • lol, ok. Enjoy.Nairn
    • It's so frustrating that I can't find a decent toy or kids clothing store within 30 miles. I don't blame amazon directly, but I'm sure they're partly responsiblmonospaced
    • kinda sick of Gap/Old Navy/Carter's shitemonospaced
    • Sounds like someone could make some money selling 0.9Gal cans online in CA... ;)
Sorry, that IS a weird outlier case, so fair enough - buy THAT from Amazon.

    • Just.. don't buy ALL your shit from Amazon.

      Please!

    • @mono - don't you live in ... New fucking York?! How can you not find places to buy shit? How bad are things over there?Nairn
    • It's sorta bad. I left the city a year ago and moved a few miles out into the suburbs. Retail took a hit long before covid, but the virus ended a lot more.monospaced
    • We have places to buy shit. But it's increasingly inconvenient, requiring longer drives than I'd like. Going into manhattan is a slight chore now.monospaced
