I'm going to a sporting event in a couple of weeks and the only way I can get the tickets is to download them through the organiser's app. I can't get in to the event I've paid a lot money to attend without a smartphone and agreeing to all kinds subsequent data-sharing bollocks.

More and more "public" par parks have private companies managing the payment, and require the downloading of, and sign-up to, an app in order to use.

This shit is happening more and more and I swear is a reason my dad is less inclined to go out these days (no smartphone, general technophobe).

As well as paying (a lot) for the ticket we have to own a tech giant's product and use our data allowance to download an app that takes and further monetises our personal data.

There's no reason we can't be compensated for the giving and use of our data. Like a pay-per-use streaming model that puts a penny in digital account for us - that we might use to pay for the fucking car park.

    • I'm not a fan of the idea of vaccine passports but this shit is much worse imo, and seems to completely pass by lots of vax conspiracists.Fax_Benson
