When all schools in NYC shut down going remote at begging of the pandemic, my wife found a local religious school that stayed open so the kid at least went to school full time (sadly, in mask with plastic dividers between students and no real between-students play).

Today I ran into my 6yo's pre-k teacher. Sadly, they are forced to go with the same set-up this year. I gotta say, my heart sank.

Of 20mil under 18yo infected, there were 330 deaths. The mortality in this age group is so low, this means that your child is 2x as likely being stuck by lightning than dying from covid.

    When will this madness end?

    • Again. The masks on kids is about slowing the spread, not keeping them safe. How you still don’t understand I do not know.monospaced
    • fuck you with your slowing the spread. you are slowing absolutely NOTHING.pr2
    • It’s not me who made the call, asshole. It was the experts and elected leaders.monospaced
    • so start pointing out the stupidity in their call. You want to glue some cloth to my face = fine; but if you stop kids from being the kids you gotta a fight.pr2

    • Sadly LOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLpango
    • How many people did those 20 million spread it to? How many of them in turn got long covid or died? More than 330 I bet.i_monk
    • how about fuck you with your spreading jerk-off fantasies, and lets deal with reality on the ground of what is ACTUALLY happening?pr2
    • How do you not get that the survival rates of children are a big problem? Ignoring the long-term and possibly life-long effects post-infection..garbage
    • ..these kids are walking in vitro experiments and mutation reservoirs. Stop being such a bitch about wearing a mask and being collectively responsible.garbage
    • dude, there were 49 lightning strike deaths last year in the US and 3 were children, NOT 660 as your math seems to conclude. 1 unnecessary kid death is too man_niko
    • “2x as likely”nb
    • you do realise kids can spread it to adults right? this is a classic example of where your skewed statistics actually mean fuck all.inteliboy

    • *bust through wall* fuck you ill give your moms covid lets fightcannonball1978
    • how about we stop fantasizing about "long-term effects of covid" and start talking about REALITY of long term effects this bizarre experiment on their mind?pr2
    • and again, fuck your imaginary gradma when i see the REAL damage this anti-science approach has on kids.pr2
    • not to mention that my ACTUAL "gradma" made the choice for herself that she would rather risk death than not be able to kiss her grandchildren.pr2
    • 2 years into a pandemic and this goofy still doesn't know the purpose of masks.khan
    • pr2 what exactly do you propose for pandemics then? ignore vaccines? no masks? alternate therapies? seems you're against everything.inteliboy
    • considering you're our in-house expert on absolutely everything, would be interested to know.inteliboy
    • 1. ask parents and teachers about their comfort level.
      2. put kids of parents and teachers, that for whatever reason are scared, in the same group.
      pr2
    • 3. put other kids in the class with teachers who want to teach rather then be mask Nazis.pr2
    • this is anecdotal, but every teacher i spoke to see the profound damage this abnormal situation does to the kids's psyche.pr2
    • 4. Don’t let them go outside at recess what with all the lightning strikes_niko
    • Who cares, let them all suffer. There will be nothing left of this planet in a couple decades anyway.utopian
    • Also anecdotal, but it's pretty clear to see the profound damage this abnormal situation is having on your psyche.bogue
    • This stupid fuck is still advocating for the “let’s not do shit” approach like the silly cunt he is.monospaced
    • Seriously pr2, never fasten a seatbelt again. For yourself or your children. Because car accident deaths affect less than 1% of the population.monospaced
    • And if your child gets cancer, don’t get treatment. Cancer only kills less than 1% of children. All the people dedicating their lives to this are stupid.monospaced
    • lol this post is so dumb. i cant even.pango
    • Pr2 what exactly is so wrong with your kid learning social responsibility at a young age? What exactly is so scarring about masks? (genuine q)Projectile
    • the madness will end when the idiots get vaxed of course.... stoopid question... easy answer.neverscared
    • this post gave me covidernexbcn
    • everyone who insists that kids with ZERO mortality rate should learn behind dividers is so dumb i congratulate you on the ability to learn to read.pr2
    • even with dividers, even with masks kid's lives are better than ever, stop coddling them, they're fine. Remember our childhood? we'd get the shit kicked_niko
    • ...out of us daily, from parents, from kids, from teachers, both physically and verbally, trust me kids are soft as hell these days a mask and divider won't kil_niko
    • ...kill them, and I've never once heard a complaint from my kids or any other kid for that matter, just from over-protective Karents. *ooh I'm trademarking that_niko
    • Imagine thinking plexi dividers and masks are worse than spreading a deadly virus to your parents and grandparents and your friends' parents and grandparents...i_monk
    • There are two pandemics at the moment, the 'rona and Dunning-Kruger.i_monk
    • LOLpango
    • pwnedGuyFawkes
    • imagine kids having childhood rather than worrying about imaginary virus that kills NOBODY other then their grandparents who live across the country.pr2
    • there are no elderly in your neighbourhood?
      fuck em right?
