For some people the war is only about numbers. The number of refugees, the number of armored vehicles or operations.

To me, this is the first war, where I actually know people personally who are fearing for their lives or maybe even already got killed. Since yesterday, I don't have contact to a model from Kiev anymore. I know she stayed in the city with her boyfriend.

These were modern people, like you and me. They had jobs and belonged to the better-off people in the Ukraine. But their life is ending now at age 27. And all we can do is watch this happen.

We also know where this might lead to and still we can't stop the war.

I cried a few times in the past days (and I barely do). Each morning I wake up hoping this was just a nightmare.

    • Well said. I hope these people will prevail and this nightmare stop soon.NBQ00

    • I think of my grandparents, who escaped Warsaw at the start of WWII. How I wouldn't be here today if they weren't so lucky.nocomply
