About a month ago I was sitting on a friends sofa at a right angle to the TV watching a film and could barely make out the subtitles, I'd had had something stuck in my eye a few days before so decided to book an eye test to see if i'd scratched it (hadn't been to an optician in maybe 25? years)
Turns out my retinas are fine but I'm just old and needed glasses. Eyesight was particularly bad in my right eye (left has been compensating) so also found i have an astigmatism that needed correcting.
Now i've got them i'm realising how bad my eyesight was. I haven't been enjoying reading as much for the last while (getting tired and putting the book down after a chapter, or telling myself the book must just be boring). Considering i'm doing mostly editorial production it's been affecting my work too (although sometimes I don't want to read this shite) after a few days adjusting everything feels much easier.
