At my agency, we exclusively use XD for all digital web projects, which I've enjoyed for it's simplicity, collaboration capabilities, and ability to mentor and teach junior designers a new tool.

I've only used Figma when clients have invited me to their files. For those of you who use Figma, what are the "OMG this feature is awesome" features?

Because I'm really curious about any specific advantages Figma has, features XD doesn't have, etc. that could make their way into XD.

I love XD, despite it's downsides, all of which I have listed in an email to our rep to see what future updates will change those.

    For example:
    - Only the file owner (when using CC / cloud) can create and publish prototypes. That ends up being me because all UX projects start with me. If I'm not around (was on vacation recently and had to take my work laptop with because I knew I'd have to publish updates once the team was done) nobody else can publish updates.
    - When using character styles, I want to see that character style highlighted in the left toolbar when I have selected text in an artboard. I am a stickler for my designers using character styles and never one-off styling text. So, it sucks when you can't see what style is in use. It's such a no-brainer feature.
    - I would KILL for scroll triggers and deeper Lottie animation integration. It's great they have Lottie and video integration now, but to show clients how scrolling would trigger animations, it sucks to only be able to do that in voice-over during presentations.

Any thoughts? What could you not live without in Figma that XD doesn't have at the moment?

    • More like and axe vs. scalpel situation...grafician
    • Simple overrides. If you bring in a button from an XD library, you have to change the text in all states. You don't in Figma.aliastime
    • Also, through a plugin, we're getting more design token exports like border styles, radius, padding, etc.aliastime
    • In Figma, character styles are displayed. For scrolling, we're using the Mouse enter trigger. Not perfect, but demos ok. And we Auto layout almost everything.aliastime
    • I recently started using XD's stacks feature, and I'm kicking myself for not using it sooner.mg33
    • XD is easy to use, but FFS why haven't they added such basic things like text editing keyboard shortcuts like all other Adobe programs?Luda
