Ok, so after spending a couple of weeks with the OP-1 I can say without a doubt I should have held on to my first one longer..
once I stopped trying to force the OP-1 into my existing workflow and just succumb to its own unique and weird way of doing music, it is actually super fun and intuitive..

is it worth it? hard to say .. but its super fun and so far there of the 5 or 6 bits of audio I have made, at least 2 are of a level where I would consider building them into actual songs..

small victories I know.. but sometimes it takes more than one owning of something before you really get a good idea of it

    • or maybe it just took that 5 years for my style in music to change enough to accomodate it..autoflavour
    • not rushing out to buy a OP-1 Field.. but for anyone thinking about a OG OP-1.. I recommendautoflavour
    • Haha, I have a Behringer Neutron which I'm still yet to accommodate into my style of music. Keep thinking of selling itIanbolton
    • Saying that, what would you class as 'your style'?Ianbolton
    • not so much style as in music, more just workflow.. like forever I was trying to make the OP1 fit into the Ableton/midi/modular thing I have going on..autoflavour
    • like it being just another synth.. but once you drop that and think about it like being the centre of everything, and you get your head around the NO UNDOautoflavour
    • but you can cut and paste audio so as long as you have it in buffer you can always just replace the audio you messed up, then it becomes a different thingautoflavour
    • was having a lot of fun the other night clocking the modular out of the op1 and then sampling/recording the modular back into the OP1autoflavour
    • will I write a whole song on it? unlikely.. will I get 4 parts which are the basis of a whole song which is then finished in Ableton.. definitelyautoflavour
    • Nice. I'm interested in people's creative processes and music must have one of the most varied skillsets going. There's infinite ways to make a tune.Ianbolton
