    One of the best articles about the world cup :

    I don't know what the result was this Tuesday between Argentina and Croatia in the World Cup in Qatar - I have to deliver this column first - but I do know one thing for sure: I know that, at match time, there was a man walking through a park in a city in the Pampas, in the sunshine, accompanied by two dogs. Here's the thing: my two brothers turned my father into the Anticábala: they prohibited him from watching the national team's matches. It's his superstitious contribution to Argentina winning. My father is not interested in football, so not watching them doesn't bother him. Last Friday, when the Argentina national team played against the Netherlands, he was watching The Godfather II on Netflix. At one point, because the subtitles weren't coming on, he fiddled with the remote control - he's a chemical engineer, but he doesn't understand that device - he unintentionally switched off Netflix and the match suddenly appeared before his eyes. In that minute, the Netherlands scored their second goal. One of my brothers appeared in a flurry, certain that the disaster was the result of my father watching the match. And indeed he was. So, to avoid trouble, he sent him away: he sent him for a walk in the park. And that man who ran away from home to go looking for gold in Brazil when he was 17, who introduced us to Argentina in a vehicle loaded with weapons in the middle of the dictatorship, who endured my mother's agony absorbing the horror so that we wouldn't swallow it, put the dogs in his truck and left. He didn't calculate that the match would last so long: 10 minutes of extra time, plus half an hour, plus penalties. He walked in the sun - it was 40 degrees - until he was exhausted. But he got them to win. So this is my only certainty: yesterday, Tuesday, at match time, a man went for a walk with his dogs, in the sunshine, because his children still believe he can change the world. That's what a father is. Someone who does not hesitate to fulfil, in the name of a love he will never confess, the absurd extravagance.

    • Left the table to get some more beers, then England missed the second penalty and that was it. If I didn't left...grafician
    • Not to mention by then all predictions were 100% but one tiny break and the perfect score card was done

      Sports = superstition
