This story looks suspiciously like some PR damage control they rushed out to make people forget the shitshow of firing the CEO and then being forced to bring him back. It's wild how the media takes it totally at face value.

AI is one of those topics where it's complex enough that you can easily fool people. The people involved in it seem to have successfully seeded the narrative that AI is so powerful it could wipe out humanity -- even though all we have now are chatbots -- and that we're really close to achieving "AGI", like maybe it'll happen next weekend or something.

I wouldn't be surprised if we eventually find out many of these AI Safety groups are funded by the companies themselves.

    • Don't believe the advanced model bs at all. Sam Altman is a Stanford dropout who is really good at getting investors to invest.jonny_quest_lives
    • Altman creeps me out too like a sociopath who purposele makes those wide round trust me eyes so he can get close to stab you with a knife.jonny_quest_lives
    • didn't realize he's just a shitty hype man, I thought he was one of the inventors/engineers_niko
    • and though the sleazy board as trying to force him out so that they can monitor this better but it was actually the other way around. Fuck him and fuck microsof_niko
    • *Monetize this better_niko
