Yoooo! Looking for advice or tips.

My daughter and I are taking a trip to the East Coast. We're going to D.C. and NYC and will be in New York March 10th-12th it's my first time. I know it's not a very long time so I'm trying to do the best stuff I can on this trip.

Here is what we are interested in doing:

-Want to eat the most New York things possible, NY Bagels, NY Hot Dog, Pizza, Jewish Deli, etc..

-Street Photography a full day or half day plus camera shops

-Want to see something in the way of Hip-Hop culture, graffiti, record shops, etc.

    -Nightime skyline view and photos

-For nightlife, a dope dive bar, or something with live indie bands, or house music club

-At least one good art or photography museum

-Chinatown? or Japan? or Korea town? lol

-Maybe have a beer or cocktail with one of you mofos?

We are staying at the Martinique Hotel on Broadway and 32nd st.

    :-)

    • Heads-up: anyone who hasn’t been here since before the pandemic may give bad recommendations. Many places and even neighborhoods got lame since the WFH phenomennb

    • There's a place like that in Brooklyn called greenpoint but now I fear it doesn't exist. awwww damcherub
    • “Outer” hoods like greenpoint have developed a lot, actually. Williamsburg is like the cool downtown.nb
    • You’ll find that midtown, Hell’s Kitchen, Murray hill have lost a lot of activity.nb
    • If you're hotel is in Herald Square, you're around the block from the Empire State Building. It may sound cliche but those are the best views on Earth.CyBrainX
    • Also, your hotel is in Korea Town. I think 32nd Street has the best restaurants.CyBrainX
    • Your kid is a young adult? For night life try Astor place and walk east down St Marks then south down into lower east side if you don’t find a bar or restaurantnb
    • But you will!!nb
    • For camara shops, look into B and H Photo and/or Adorama.CyBrainX
    • Live indie and house is easiest to find in Williamsburg and Bushwicknb
    • Katz is still good but touristy as hell. But you’re also a tourist so whatevs. There are many delis and diners with great pastraminb
    • Hot dogs are meh, but grab one from a cart. You’ll get the experience. Don’t overpay in a tourist area, they’re all the samenb
    • B&H is so dope. Camera lover heaven.cherub
    • awesome! thanks guys. yes, she is 22.HijoDMaite
    • Great photos from Tudor City. 2nd Ave Deli if you want the Jewish deli experience and know Katz is overrated.monospaced
    • Walk the high line on the west side and get killer pizza at the southern end. It’s also great orthography there and some playgrounds not farmonospaced
    • Battery Park for family strolls. Eat some lamb over rice from a Halal Cart. Union square jazz during farmers market on Saturday morning.monospaced
    • H&H bagels is the best. Stay AWAY from anything even near Penn Station or tourist places like Times Square. Not worth it. Ever.monospaced
    • And just know you’re gonna walk. It’s part of the vibe. Make sure everyone’s ok board. Go to the Comedy Cellar? Forget how old the kids ar.monospaced
    • Doing a rooftop bar is nice!

      Bronx, NY 10451
      stoplying
    • Beastie boys square is right around the corner from Katz. ICP is good for a show, Chinatown nom wah dim sum. Joes shanghai soup dumplings. Good dive bars LESBH26
    • The best museum is the Met. You could spend weeks there. Moma is good too.nb
    • Fotografiska is a better photography museum than ICP, but it depends on what the feature show is.nb
    • Awesome suggestions guys!! Thanks so much!HijoDMaite
    • I think employees only is still on. If there’s such thing as a sophisticated dive bar, this place would be it.maikel
    • I also love small’s - that’s the club that appears in Whiplash. But you gotta like jazz for it to be worth it.maikel
    • Hip hop museum is shut down until 2025HijoDMaite
