I'm sure they spent less than half of it on design.
canadian tire doesn't fuck around man, they go all out!

ahhaha
28mill, shit but the backend gotta be solid as hell they have shops every street corners here
- Nairn0
No, really. Come on - how much did that cost to put together?
- monNom0
it's a pretty big shop.. start clicking thru the products...there's a LOT of them
and somebody had to scan all those images!
- timajick0
i could have done it for $26 million. easy.
- unknown0
I was just as shocked
http://www.canadianbusiness.com/…
but it's true...I wonder if they need any flash work done, at a bargain price of $1 million...
- matt240
i bet we can find 28 million reasons why it sucks

I think the site itself is pretty complicated as far as the back end goes...but theres no way that this will be a profitable venture considering that there's a crappy tire in every back water town in canada from coast to coast.
- architype0
thats canadian dollars of course, so its about $10,000us. Thats about right.
- monNom0
you should read that article...
they expect to break even this year.
it honestly does have some thoughtful features... I think it's a well done site.
- unknown0
I had done it for $25 million...they should have called me....damnit!
friggin' unbelievable...
you have a link to the source where you found info on the costs??
- unknown0
check a few posts ago for the link...
and if it is Canadian dollars it's still well over $20 million us
- architype0
its possible they paid in canadian tire dollars, they do have their own currency.
i know you can use canadian tire dollars at par at participating A&W's.
- k0na_an0k0
i would have done it for half of that.
- matt240
canadian tire dollars hahahahahahahahah
- k0na_an0k0
WHERE THE FUCK CAN YOU BUY TIRES ON THAT DAMN SITE?!?
haha.
- enobrev0
i would have done it for at least $30 million.. they got a deal...
"No wonder the company has spent so much money developing the site. Software from Blue Martini handles content, customer interaction and reporting. It’s integrated into Canadian Tire’s mainframe-based legacy systems that manage product information and pricing. Powering the whole system is a slew of servers from Sun, Compaq and IBM, as well as a laundry list of high-end software to handle shipping, "

there store is still just a glorified cross between joe's tire-stop and walmart
- enobrev0
and we're glorified crosses between creative nuts and geeks
