Logo ideas / feedback

So I've finally started on that darn online portfolio of mine, and I was thinking I should make a logo for myself to place on the site... Hehe. I'm not much of a logo designer, so it's pretty interesting. So I've come up with a few ideas I want some feedback on. They're actually all the same idea, with small variations. Never mind the colors, they are just temporary, untill I get them adjusted. For now, lets focus on the form.
1: This was my initial idea. In my opinion, it's too "round" and doesn't really lead your eyes to anything, and it doesn't show the letters J and S very good.
I decided to moved stuff around and remove some of the elements to make it more of a unique mark. I personally like # 2 and 6 best.
So, any tips / feedback / slaughter / whatever?

i´m a uncreative sucker when it comes to logos :)
but i would suggest 3 and 6

Hmmmmm. it's a, I can't find the right word. Did somebody mention you that designers are saturated with futuristic vector logos?
:)

Thanks! Anyone else got something to say about them? I'm really pulled between #2 and #6, so if any of you've got something that'll help me make up my mind, that would be nice.

macasoFL:
Well.... I wasn't really thinking about that when I made it, I was just focusing on NOT making it an eagle or some kind of heraldic ornament.

that's true
- luke0
LOL the eagle

So, any more?

When I think of a logo I think of something simple, yet people will get used to it, is like a long chorus on a song, if it's too long you won't bother to learn it, too many curves get forgoten by people fast, if its letters, they should be legible, if it's a graphic, well, something with a shape.
Anyways if you're going with any of these, the one I like is #6. To be honest I don't like anyone of them, but that's your taste and I'm not qualified to make you change or anything like that.

I like #1 & #2.
- luke0
so you said 2 or 6
quite simple
if people should be able to recognize the J + S then go with number 6 else take 2
2 actually looks better when it comes to composition.

It's not _extremely_ important that people recognize the j and s right away, but the mark should not confuse the person looking at it. As long as it's a mark that is unique and interesting.
I'm still stuck between #2 and #6.
macasoFL: I'm sorry that you don't like it. I surfed around a bit on the "popular" sites, and you are indeed right. This logo is very much in the same category as a lot of other designer logos.

i like number 2 the best i guess, but i think a different shaped 's' would serve better.
and maybe one of those eagles the kids all seem to love so much.
:)
- schjetne0
How would you rather want to see the S?
- luke0
make some kissing lions
- schjetne0
Aaaah! That would be real cute, wouldn't it?
- neeko0
perhaps a lion beneath the eagle...
could be a personal thing, but the 's' gives me the impresion its pointing towards something, like i shouldnt be looking at the logo, but whatever its pointing at.
- schjetne0
Well maybe it in fact IS pointing at something. Look around you. See anything new?
Aaaaah, there you go!
Seriously, that was what I meant by the first one being boring and not very special. It's not heading anywhere, it's just looping, looping, looping. It doesn't lead the eye on to the next element.
- schjetne0
Ah dammit, I'll go for number 2.
- neeko0
i see what you mean, but a logo usually has to stand alone as well.
thanks for the heads up though, i'll be sure to try and schedule some time in for looking around.
