Okay, I am crawling into print from web, so I have a lot of question with no answers. This time I am about to design a file folder. The problem with the folder is that it is not really a straight "folded A3 carton with logo and blah", but it also has sort of "pocket" inside, where you put papers. You get what I mean. Now, if I want to put anything on this surface (which is only a corner, not a full page), what do I do? How do I prepare the file and what do I tell the printer, so he doesn't laugh me out loud. Please?

yo popovich! man, if i were you, the first thing i would do is call your printer and tell him that you will be working with them a lot and that you are an experienced designer, but you are new to print.

be honest. they wont laugh at you. you and your printer need to be tight. pick their brains and let them help you. they will appreciate your honesty and take the time to help you, because in the longrun, they are helping themselves.

every printer runs a bit differently, so always talk to your new printer.

im sorry that i dont know what you are asking. i work only in large format design/production, but what im sayin applies to all forms of print. i love the clients who call me and ask questions. i love them because i can tell them exactly what to give me and the best ways to do this so in the longrun, it saves me time and them money, because my time aint cheap. =)

good luck and i hope it turns out well!!

yo Bio, thanks, man. Another thing is that I don't know my printer. Iam not acquainted with him... 'cause all the print stuff which I do at work (which is not a lot at the moment, but still) is done in the suburb - that's costly for me. I don't have the time to go there and pick it up. So I will have to find someone in the city.
Secondly. Well, secondly, thanks for a reply! :)
