Hey, any actionscripting gurus online? Could you, please, help, guys?
The thing: when I first load an external swf file, the function, sitting in the host_mc on the main timeline cannot evaluate this:temp1 =eval("_root.host.content.s."+no...
though the nowis variable is known. When the swf was loaded already (sits in cache), it loads and evaluated okay. Why is that and what do I do?
Please.

It also works, when the file is executed localy.....

So if I reading this right you want to send a new swf a variable temp1, when it loads..
if so..
Its beacuse of a problem with flash you are sending the variable to eairly. It hasn't loaded yet, the movie that is(flash's problem not yours)
So what you need to do is get the loaded movie to ask back what the varible is..
ie.
place the temp1 var in the root of your movie.
Then place in the new movie on the first frame..newtemp1 = _level0.temp (or whatever level the var is at).

The external swf contains mc's which I am tryin to reach with this temp1 variable.
The thing is that if it wasn't loaded, it wouldn't execute the function. That worked yesterday, and I didn't change anything in that part of the script.... But this seems to be the damn case, though... temp1 is changed dynamically - a button click makes it go through the functions and set the new temp1 every time... The most astonishing part of all this story is that the script, though not "seeing" the external movie's mc's still places it right on the scene, but cannot execute gotoAndPlay action. Weird!

nice site you have, frankbb. I don't think I can really provide you with files, but I can surely provide you with a link. I asked a series of question while recoding the whole thing. Check the latest post by me. http://webforums.macromedia.com/…
