ok so i got this new external 80gb hd and a firewire card. I installed firewire then connected the hd and despite the fact that it shows in the bottom right (to safely disconect it) but it doesn't show in My computer (win XP).
Help!

i had this same problem... you have to format the drive somehow...
i actually had to take the HD out of the firewire case and put it in my desktop case, format it, then pop it back in the firewire case.
only thing i could get to work.
