ignore trends.
do what ya like.
i've got some drop shadows on my soon-to-be released portfolio site. I think they can be tastefully done in a timeless way.

Is this true? I was thinking it was just a southern (US) thing. hhmm.

good. I was badgering and shaming myself when I decided to put a few shadows on my site. Now i'm just ahead of my time. (ha!)

Drop shadows rock! Haha.
I used some for a site I did at work recently... http://www.littleclicks.com
If executed properly, they can be classy.

An old professor of mine gave me this advice in college:
"If it looks right... it IS right."
Meaning, it doesn't matter what's considered "in" or not, as long as it appropriate for the concept & well-articulated.

i love drop shadows...
everywhere...
have you had your drop shadow today?

subtle drop shadows can really create a good sense of depth that some sites need ...
keyword: subtle ... heh

the drop shadow never left... neither did the bevel.
they'll never go away, and they will always be used incorrectly by some... just like 45 degree angles, arrows, thick white boarders around everything... helvetica...
html
dhtml!...
FLASH!!!!...everything has times when it's used poorly.

wouldn't drop shadows be the new gray?
anyway, sometimes their needed. theres nothing evil in their nature...its just when things get over done. then you have a problem.
