are most of you lucky enough to work at home?

work in an agency which pays for my $1,700 a year pass to shred the mtn right outside my door.

I wish.
I am one of six people left in an office of over thirty. Lots of empty desks, rotting computers, lonely chairs and unused pencils.
Probably the only benefit being no one looking over my shoulder whilst i type this out...

after a while working at home you end up talking to yourself...
no I don't...
yes you do...

My wife and I work out of a studio adjacent to our home. While working I listen to iTunes, and with lunch I drink a foul tasting herbal broth that it supposed to have medicinal qualities. Sometimes I get pissed off, throw and tantrum and quit working early. After work I go through double doors, build a fire and have a drink.

2cent.. i would love to do that. youre really lucky.
id like to work for an agency period... more variety.

I've been working from home the last three months. I get a lot of bad habits from it. I smoke 10 times more, I'm naked a lot, I eat 20 times more etc etc.
- paulrand0
what's wrong with that?
- ribit0
@luke... I worked from home for a year... but in the end I needed to get out and 'go to the office'... more fun... and now I have some idea of how many hours I'm working too...
still looking for the perfect studio though...anyone else out there want to do a combination of transportation design, interaction design and website production?

this is my last (sob!) week of being an at-home-in-my-pajamas freelancer. I'm joining jevad in the agency hell...but am a little relieved too.

i'm going the other way unfortunately... after 2 years of cutting the budget, my company finally laid off its last 2 employees this month, me being one of them. i'll be finishing up some odd freelance jobs ive been working on over the next few weeks, then im pulling out the bongos and gonna start working the streets for spare change.

ribit. id like like my own studio.. period. id be so nice. when i am working at home i never get anything done. so then i come into my day job office on weekends and after hours.. so it seems like i never leave.
if i got a studio i think id just work on my own thang full time.

i "work" at home, but true being told is that since i found NT, I hardly get anything done...
it's weird i know i do work 'cause i get stuff done, but i'm terribly bad at planning my time. I wake up very late, and have to go to bed very late as well. Sometimes it's 5 pm and i'm still in pijamas. That makes you feel like a slob. It's really embarassing when someone knocks at your door that late, and you haven't even showered yet...
Obviously everyone thinks you're an unemployed junkie...
- ribit0
thats partly why I'm renting a desk in a studio... practising for the day I have a 'normal' job where I have to get up early...

My boss has started calling me at nine in the morning with a lot of strange questions.
I think it's just to annoy me. He KNOWS I'm never awake at nine, as I never showed up before ten or eleven when I worked from the studio.
Yeah well. He pays me to work 8 hours a day, so it doesn't really matter. Mind as well get it over with. Even if I have to get up at nine.

i sit around all day drawing listening to mp3s while muted porn plays on my machine (for when i get tired of looking at whatever im looking at). then i spend the last half of the day drinking wild turkey wondering what a sorry life i have.*
*true story.
