Sure, that's one thing. But perpetual torment for those whos beliefs differ from yours is another.

i actually always kind of thought the notion that their idea of jesus coming over here and preaching was kind of neat...
the idea being that no one race or group of people can lay claim to being God's chosen...he hung with everyone kinda vibe...one small problem though...
i'm no expert on this...but i have read a few native creation myths and a few about their spirits and legends..
not one mention of any semitic chaps wandering in from the wilderness saying they were Gods son...
matter of fact, the native version of things, and their belief system is really colourful and beautiful has all sorts of great morales and stories...
and never once did i hear about anything remotely sounding like what the mormons believe to be true...i guess the test would be to ask Natives in Utah what they think of the mormons...
chances are they think the mormons are a bunch of misguided freaky whitefolk that can take their 'jesus preached to you too!!' jive and take it somewhere else...

shit I had no idea that Joe Smith wrote that when he was 14. I have lost all respect for them completely, I mean think about it, taking some principles from a 14 year old. what the F?

I think you guys are missing the point.
Mark Hoffman is the true prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He single handedly debunked and disproved the divine connection that the church administration claims to have with "the Almighty".
He was a total fraud, and they bought up (literally) everything he did or said to try and keep the churches sorted past under wraps. These so-called "prophets" were dealing with a serial murderer and thought of him as one of their own, and buying "historical" documents from him. I guess God was too busy with some other projects to give them the 411 so they didn't look like total asses.
By the way......full circle........Mark Hoffman was an ace designer......all his documents were verifiyed by top historians as legit. The only docs they know are frauds are the ones he himself revealed as COUNTERFEIT.
bah......zealots are all the same...."god told me to do it"........ our human race isn't much more advanced than our old monkey and ape brotheren....
maybe someday we will EVOLVE.

and believing in eternal separation from a holy and loving God for the simple reason of rejecting the one, absolutely free provision he offers as a gift... is another thing.

ah, the miracle of thread evolution here at NT.
heheheeee.

easy easy easy now. Your average mormon missionary is not aware of the dark doctrines that plague the movement's history. "Elder" so & so that comes to your door is very sincere in what he believes... just sincerely wrong (some would argue).
Joseph Smith was also a teenage Opium addict, to make matters worse.

Frow,
I suppose if you share that supernatural beleif sure. But that is sadly not a fact or shared observation.
- frow0

he had the whole fuckin subscription.

Frow,
My point is this, some of us humans desire freedom from superstition and prefer not to to think of it as anything more than belief. Superstition certainly is not an ethical code to live by.
