experienced the same problem, how many items did you have on your desktop?
i had too many, and my Ti has gone mad trying rebuilding the desktop. so, it couldn't restart....
try connect it as a firewire Hd to another Mac, and use norton.

Hi mate
I have had the same problem as you in the past.
It might be that your hard-drive is on it way out. Best bet is to try and get your hands on a another hard-drive. Boot from that new hard-drive and see if you can get your data backup.
Have you tried to reset the PRAM that might help hold down the Command Option P R key when you restart the computer.

urgh, I 've had similar things in the past - once it was a HD and once it was the motherboard.

this problem is all too common with macs on os9. Zapping the PRAM typically will not help. Ideally you pop in a CD that has something like Discwarrior or Techtools on it, with it's own system folder, restart holding down the C key(to boot off of that disc), and then rebuild your disc/desktop with one of those programs. This usually solves the problem. Good Luck!
