I am looking for a solid, but not really expensive (max ˆ/$500, preferably under ˆ/$100) CMS for php/mysql, which doesn't mind my design and layout, easy-going (as the client is not that internet-savvy anyways) and let's me do a lot of text-editing, cross-linking, image-handling, etc thinks. Any help would be appreciated.

Movabletype http://www.movabletype.org/
I'd also consider macromedia contribute. could be the cheaper commercial alternative.

Contribute is shite. I had really high expectations, and bought it for a client, and we've had nothing but trouble with it. It's more work than updating the sites yourself...
Clients are stupid, and they don't immediately understand the Dreamweaver-ish interface.
