hey guys, Dr. Bio here.
gonna buy me a plane ticket now for belgium. best price i can come up with is $522.00 round trip.
BUT i just went to http://www.priceline.com and found out that i could name my own price. the catch seems to be: as soon as i enter my credit card info, then the shit is set in stone and if they find a match, then they buy it and it is non-refundable.
and my question is:
if they dont find a match for me in a week, then i will have to go ahead and buy another ticket. BUT they can fuck me and purchase a ticket because i cant cancell my request right?does anyone use priceline or have any info that might be useful?
this is my first real overseas trip and i am new to this whole "looking fr cheao tickets" thing. many thanks if you have any suggestions. i could really use the help. =)

Cheap tickets are fine...but when that silver cigar shaped coffin is plunging towards the earth...you will be wishing that you spent money on a reputable airline with decent service and decent maintenance.

well, i dont need REALLY cheap tickets, but i had found one for $400 USD not long ago and that seemed a good price.
i wouldnt go less than that unless it was some sort of special... you know... like the plane that only has one out of 4 engines left but is "still in working condition unless the last engine fails". hahah.
if i die, then i'm taking the other passengers with me in a blaze of... oh... i get it. nevermind.
heheh.

yo bio, i'm in the same boat as you although i'm looking for a fair to vegas in august. priceline does seem like a scam but i've had a friend or two use it and actually got a good deal.
i however knowing my luck will get stuck with the highest price possible.
good luck.

k0na...I used to live in Vegas and Southwest Airlines always had the best deals. Also, a friend who has a travel agency always recommends using cheaptickets.com. Know where you will be staying once in Vegas??

stacie:
not quite sure yet. last time (in march) we stayed in a penthouse suite at mgm. i think we're discussing paris or mgm again at the moment. thanks for the advice... i'm searching southwest now. i've flown them before (being from chicago and all) so i'll take a look. thanks again.

actually had a few friends who used priceline.com and usually the flights leave either in the early AM or wee night (red eye flts)... they're usually relaible when you have a flexible schedule..
- zenfulbeauty0
you're very welcome :) hope it helps!
- Bio0
mmm. thanks gamma!
that is good to know.
i am flexible on the hours. doesnt matter when flight leaves really.that is good to hear. thanks for responding man!

Cheap tickets are fine...but when that silver cigar shaped coffin is plunging towards the earth...

not if you're the one looking for the cheap tickets. =p
rasko, i chose belgium because i hear the ladies there need some sweet southern american lovin...
actually i am going because it is right in the center of everything in europe. seems like a great place and i wanna raid every design firm i can find for a job so i can move over there and see some of the world.
tired of living here in mississippi.

well Rasko
U answered your own question,

Dr. B. Freak...
May I be so bold as to ask where you found a round trip to Belgium for $522? And you surely must be connecting somewhere first right?
I could use a little help of my own. Trying to get to Paris in December. And I love the pure adrelanine rush of flying with irreputable airlines!
(my short investigations have come up aboot $624 from SF)
Oh, and I have never heard of anything bad about priceline... if you are failry flexible. I tried it once to test (didn't purchase) but it seemed there are MANY fees that get added on to the price you state. So go lower than you initially figure. ie: $500 == $400-450.
- Bio0
hey gorbie! no, i dont mind sharing at all.
i think i found those prices at http://travelosity.com but i'd have to get on my home computer to tell ya for sure.
here are some sites to search thru though:
http://expedia.com
http://cheaptickets.com
http://orbitz.com
and what we already mentioned:
http://travelsoity.com
http://priceline.comi searched thru all of those. not really too hard to do. just remember to check nearby airports if you cant find on leaving from your first choice. cuz sometimes leaving from an airport that is a 2 hour drive from you can save $50 or $150.
priceline lets you set your own price and then lets airlines basically bid over it. and when one accepts your offer, then that's that. =)
good luck searching!

yeah mesa hopin to go to egypt/africa region at the end of the year - anyone know about places I can score cheap tickets if I'm leaving from Australia???
(I'm thinkin it's gonna be pretty cheap hittin the middle east anyway - considering war and sars there s never been a cheaper time to fly ;p )
- sexypixel0
dont know about the us but i always found the best way to get flights out of Oz to europe is to call the travel agency direct, get a quote, then find a "we'll beat any price by 2%" outfit, then get there quote and go to another of the same till desired price is found.
They all work off the same database anyways. And ya, theres far nicer than belgium. It has the "boring" tag of Europe. No offence cy and co. but it does.
