I've been asked to give a salary requirement for an Interactive Design job out in San Fran. Anyone know what the going rate is around this area? Currently I'm making 31k at the same type of job in Minneapolis
Thanks

31K?!
how much experience do you have? do you code or do flash?
- jevad0
whoah...this does *not* sound good...right now it's between denver and san jose for me and the mrs in November...and SF ain;t sounding too hot!!
- Gorbie0
How long are you here for jevad?
- jevad0
well....the (soon to be) wife has applyed for a job in Denver and a job in San Jose...both of which she has interviews for...and both of which she will 98% be offered!
It's to start in Nov...by that time we will be married (green card!) so that part's taken care of....
is it easier to get work if you have 5 years+ experience and have worked on stuff for sony, microsoft, hp, ciso, dell etc....?

My strength is Director and Lingo, however I have been using flash since version 3 and know a fair share of actionscript
I'm working off of 4 years experience now.

I know it's

damn nicholas...and you're on 31k...let's see...that's £18,000 a year...which is what I was making my first job 4 years ago! Right now I am on $55,000 a year...is that a totally non-achievable salary in teh states right now?

forget renting in sf. go get a place in the O! like me. the commute ain't that bad (45 mins across the bridge), and neighborhoods have that cool david carson distressed look.

damn nicolas, you need a raise.

whats the average rent for a nce 2 bed in SF?

Ugh. I've been at work too long.
Sorry about that extra post.Anyway! I know it's butt ass expensive to live down there and luckily I'll be moving into an area by family. I've also got a dirt cheap place to live in until spring, so I've got that going for me.
I was thinking the mid 40's range so maybe I'll shoot for 45k with a 6 month review. Any objections?
- kpl0
from what i've seen... $1800.

Depends on the company...
your gonna have a rough time living on 40 k a year in San Fran...
50k is what I would ask if the company can afford it...whats the company?
- Gorbie0
I'd also like to mention that you will get paid more the older you are. That's just the way it works.
lol, kpl!
- jevad0
hmmm...that's about what I am paying for a nice 1 bed in London...not *too* bad then...
