a long time ago i thought keeping notes was nerdy. like my uncle used to tool around with a notepad all the time and i thought he was wierd. now i know what its all about - i cant expect to remember everything and want to remember as much as i can
i write down a ton of thoughts now, even useless ones cause i know they will be forgotten if i dont.
anyone else keep a record of your thoughts? not like a diary, but just ideas and random shit just in case?

i sued to think notebooks had only one purpose.. sketching or doing a burner (piece) of the latest intriguing word that was just said.
Now, i write shit down on everything... 6 full notebooks from the past year right next to me, a box of written up napkins, business cards, folders and stickies that i transfer to notebooks when i'm really bored..

I used to write all the time. I had three nice size sketch books filled with images and thoughts, then I thought about what would happen if somebody found one of them. Now I'm pretty conservative about what I write down and most of the time I just sketch.
Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but it could be easy to get into a very bad situation through another's misinterpretations of your social critic. I'v learned that when you don't believe in much of what surounds you, it's best not to let others know. But, I am a bit of an iconoclast.

i do that often but i never have a notepad handy.. so i end up writing things down on random peices of paper, and i cant find them when i need them. eh.. oh well.

I'm with you there Shellie, I've got a big drawer filled with "important" notes and code snippets that I'm always looking through, never finding what I set out to. :)

Recently I started to have code and other stuff written in the most odd places: napkins, cereal boxes, my hand, everything necessary for that enlightmnent not fade away...

right. im not talking about writing stuff or sketching on a "notepad"
just putting ideas down, whatever, arm cocktail nakins, sticky pads.
most of the shit i put down i hate. but the shuff i remembered and liked.. im glad i did and makes up for the embarassment of the crappiness
:D

My old roommate was brilliant with his note taking. He'd enter thoughts in alphabetized notebooks, based on the core thought. Then he'd go through and index them...
...kinda like the guy in Seven...
...kinda creepy now that I think of it...

i write stuff down so i don't forget daily ... i constantly find my little lists in my pockets
if i don't i know i'll forget ... it's all about jotting down ideas as they come to me

i have a weakness for nice/neat journals, but i can't use them like diaries because i just can't write things down everyday (though when i read back on things i *did* write down, i'm thankful for it), so i kind of use this studded leather notebook as my "Palm Pilot". my to do lists are in there, phone numbers i get, quotes, lines or words i want to turn into a poem, etc. on the left side, i put all the nifty stickers i get, neat labels, small comics, etc. I also did something that i saw someone here do when people were posting their sketch books. a pic of me when i started the "journal" and i'll put a pic of me on the last page when i'm done.

most sucessful business men use a notepad and paper.... great for getting things into perspective. It subconciously makes your thoughts, which we see as intangiable, tnagable.
I was in debt a few years back and thought i would never get out of it, until i wrote down exactly what i owed and how much i earned and what i could sell, made me believe i could get out of debt... if i didnt sit down and write it i'd probably still be wollowing in self pity and debt...
write is good

have notes everywhere too!
more trying to sort stuff out, rather then write down ideas.
perhaps we should all scan in some of our notes and make an nt-note wallpaper or something?
