I am passing trought a really bad financial problem. I work as a Freelancer Sound Designer, as everyone already know, but I ain't having suficient works to help my family during these months. If somebody out there with a good heart needs songs and ambient sounds, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. If you need any references about my work, u can ask for D5ive, Chapter3 and Nakd (among others).
--- Thanks for your attention.

Unless you are working for some major company your not going to do so great in freelance sound design. I do the same thing, so I know. Occasionally you get gigs doing stuff but not for real big money. It's too controlled by big wigs and massive marketing agencies. I do the same stuff, but you might want to put a collection of them together and offer on CD like I will be doing at http://www.loopkit.com.

That’s fucking bullshit. People need to start going and knocking on doors. If you want to beg, get yourself a sign and good exit ramp. If you know how to market what you do, you’d never experience such a problem. If things aren’t working out for you, maybe it’s time to get a new job and stop playing around with your “art.”

foda-se.
Carlos, I don't find any reason to start saying crap about someone having a financial problem, especially the kind that involves family (let's not forget that Brazil, São Paulo is not the same thing as good ol' US of A). Hopefully you'll get other type of sensibility in a similar situation.
my 2 euros.

Why is it always someone sporting a hotmail address and a splash page who has to bag on someone having problems?
Carlos : stfu
combustion : good luck and best wishes

I wouldn't worry about what Carlos said... in a sad way he had a point *sigh*... I know a couple of really good photographers with excellent technical knowledge in and out of the dkroom, digital etc its just that photography is even more of a difficult market since the prolification of stock libraries and digital cameras.... sound has got to be so much more difficult to make money in esp. in this industry where a client would expect sounds to be 'thrown in' unless they are a very large co with a damn good marketing (twat) err I mean manager... My advice would be to get into TV / Film where if you're very good (esp. in selling yourself,) you can make very good money, try to get in touch with Tot Taylor for some good advice, he's a very nice, down to earth guy.

ok Rasko, thanks for the link.
In Brazil we all are having financial problems Just for you to know.

not that i ain't having at all.But things will get better I hope.

hey man..
a friend of mine does somewhat similar work, and it took him a long time to get things rolling...
at first it was just being in the shadow if his uber talented brother, who's somewhat of a bigwig producer now in LA....but, years of hard work, small gigs and networking with the right people finally allowed him to quit his day job doing special effects and 3d animation and go into music production fulltime...
he now runs a recording studio and does producing and sound design, and him and his partner have gotten a shit load of great contracts for stuff like (i think) the History Channel, car commercials etc..
not too shabby...they also have more than a few songs they've produced on the radio now...
but, it took years of work and networking to get there.....
my advice would be to do shit loads of either small paying or pro-bono work for anyone....
like cable-access shows, indie movies, anything that will get your name circulated with the right people...
when a paying gig comes along, and you've made the right connections, your name will come up as a 'go-to' guy...same advice goes to most creative jobs...

yo man, thnx.
i hope i get as good as your friend.

it's not just in brazil it's worldwide
