(be warned, some discusting stuff ahead)
So a week ago 2 of my wisdom teet were pooled (very, very painful experience). The dentist gave me some medicin (painkillers and antibiotics) which i didn't bother to take. Now, tomorrow i'm suppose to ge for over a week to Colorado (very far from NYC) the problem is that the wound isn't that great healing at all. It's still partially red, it has some whitish stuff hanging around (dead meat rather than pus) and what's wors it seems like it smels kind of funky... My plane is leaving on Monday in the morning... So should i go or cancel the ticket and go see the doc on monday?

come on PR2 constrain yourself from posting these types of topics. You just ruined my day :)
GO SEE A DOCTOR
- quik0
YES, you should cancel and go see the doc.
it might get worse.

No, I need pictures right away. We need to a medical analysis of this dead meat you have. Every sick bone in my body needs to laugh at this deformity.

you didn't bother to take the antibiotics? no offense but that was dumb. if there is white stuff and it smells, it's really infected. the only thing the doc will tell you is to take the antibiotics. there isn't much that can be done, although he could probably clean out the area of some of the infection. if you just let it go without medication, you're going to have major problems down the road.

o right i called the airline and to move my flight by one day would cost me $150 (ticket is $320). I'm going. I'm stuffing myself with those antibiotics. And i'm teking paincilers with me just in case if some weird stuff happens. If anything i might just visit an emergency room in the middle of the mountains....

the antibiotics take around 2 days to kick in. the sooner you start taking them, the better. i'd still go see the doctor when you get back.

...so do you think now i can imagine that there is an army of viruses/bacterias fighting the army of antibiotics/white cells? Oh the glory...!
- 4cY1
yup, infected.
better take your antibiotics with ya.
- auricom0
you hope so. how long has it been since you noticed the infection but haven't taken anything for it? just think, the pain you feel, that's the infection eating away at your gums and eventually your jaw. nice huh?
the reason i know all this is because i had 2 abscessed teeth. once pulled the first was fine, healed up great. a month later another abscessed and when they pulled it, a chip of the decayed tooth was still in the hole, the tooth shattered when they pulled it. luckily i was already on anti's but i needed to be on them for quite awhile. it took a few months for the gums to fully heal.

mhymm, zombies...

poor guy
teeth can be mean
- pr20
did they have to pull out that small leftover piece?
- tomkat0
oh man..
i had 2 of'em pulled 2 months ago. healing took about 1 week - seriously - it was bleeding for about 3 days and i felt very weak all of the time. the smelling is ok. (well, medically, not astetically..does that word exist??)
if theres an option to delay it, i'd really consider cancelling it.

find a dentist in Colorado
- auricom0
yep, they had to go in and cut away the parts of my gum that started to heal and fold over. there were actually 2 pieces, a part of the tooth and a part of the filling. just imagine having a tooth shatter while being pulled. i will never forget that. what they also had to do is cut away some of the infection, can't just vacuum it out.
in all honesty, i would cancel or delay your trip to go see the doctor. your case is different then mine since your teeth were further back in you mouth. which means it could start effecting other things like your sinus's, jaw, etc. this may be worse case scenario, but you never know.

no problem man.. dont take it so hard...
just see the doctor.. my girlfriend had the same problem... it may get cronical
antibiotics will just kill the pain for some time
you should see doctor..
but dont worry :)
