I am looking to hire a senior level web designer and am seeking suggestions on places to post job openings. We already use monster and have our own company career center, but was looking for additional locations.
Any thoughts?

:-) Very good.
I did put a post here last Friday in the Public Broadcast section. If anyone is interested or knows anyone who would be a good candidate here is the job listing: http://tol.hrdpt.com/cgi-bin/c/h…
The real deal is that we have 13 people in the web department but are in need of a good solid experienced web designer or be the lead designer. Someone who is a designer first and is trainined in visual thinking and problem solving (i.e. not a programmer who took a photoshop course). There is a lot of variety of work, lots of responsibility and its a great place to work (G5's are on order too).

Although the job requirements state 3 years of experience, I'd happily consider a recent graduate if the design talent and skills are there.
The best designer I ever worked with came to me fresh out of a two year school.
Joe, When do you graduate?

are you sure you guys want to hire a sr designer in house for one project? the problem is.. after the website is done.. what will the person do then? they wont immediately go into a redesign... i smell power point presentations banners and all the dirty work. hmm.. are you sure you guys wouldnt rather hire a freelancer and not have to lay someone off in 5 months? you'll save money on benefits and you wont have to try and keep someone busy for the next year (or until they take off).
i dont think a lot of companies understand they need to outsource projects like that unless they will have new, interesting project that will help a person like a sr designer grow and experiment. otherwise no one would ever stay.
if you want to outsource it.. im interested ;).

Shellie,
Actually we have 12 full time employees and 3 freelancers already working here. Toll is a 2.3 billion dolalr company and we are growing rapidly. There were just 2 of us three years ago. We have about 30 web sites currently and that does not include out intranet. I believe that most people think that a corporation like ours would have one single web site - the corporate site, and that would be the end of it. This is certainly not true. Did you see our site? Did you explore the Design Your Own Home flash component? This is certainly not a 5 month job. We have never had any layoffs in this department and are looking to hrei mroe people but are limited in space until we move to our new building.
So anyway, we are not looking for a part time or freelancer, but a full time employee to round out the department.

We are in Huntington Valley and the web department is moving to another building just up the street. Its not a new building but it is getting gutted and re-done.

wow, sounds like a nice setup. too bad it's not in Richmond,VA.
relocation package?

Relocation package? I can't say for sure what the company policy is on that. I'd have to check with HR, but I would think that for the right candidate that we would do what we could. it is an important position in the company afterall. I looked on monster and did not find many jobs like it in the field.
