The gig I went to is up in my top 5. They were supported by Franz Ferdinand, check them out if you can, although they've only released one single so far. Also try Stellastarr* from NYC.

they definitely do. one of my favourite albums this year, along with my morning jacket's 'at dawn'.

yah good band, but you didn't just find out about them did you?
I've seen them live, and I don't like the blatant Joy Division vocal rip off that guy does.
I'm guessing he can't sing well live. But on the album the vocals are great-he sings softly and in control, and it's processed and all that. But live he's trying quite hard to force it all out and high volume.Several other bands like that, Stephen Jenkins in Third Eye Blind is a prime example-on cd he's great, but live he's awful.
Any of you sing/play music and know what I mean? When I started singing and playing music live, that's all I'd done, so I guess I tailored my voice for being able to fill a room, stay on pitch and also have decent vibrato.
But they're a good band, I love that second to last song on the album.

actually, he sounded pretty good last night... maybe it just depends on the venue, or maybe he had a soar throat the night you heard them?

mitsu,
I just don't like that spooky vibrato voice that much.
Come to think of it, though, it was kind of cool out, and they were playing outside at a festival. But he also sang the same way on Letterman.

Saw them two weeks ago in SLC. Gotta agree on the Joy Division sound. Too stange. But great live. Best show Ive seen in awhile. The Stills opened up for them, anyone have any info on them? They sounded so good, but I cant find their music anywhere.
