I need to remove the cylinder on my Aeron chair. It’s not damaged or anything but I’d like to see if I could raise it up in the base to allow the chair to sit higher. (My desk is to high for it and it’s causing some crazy carpal tunnel) Has anyone tried removing the cylinder in theirs before? Apparently there is a tool you need to remove it. I was wonder what exactly the tool did. Let me know if you have taken it apart before. Thanx peoples.

Actually, call the local Herman Miller dealer and tell them what you want the chair to do first, and then see what they say. I just got a new chair from my dealer here in Florida because I had a part on mine fail, and they sent me a entire new chair. So, you are probably better off asking them what they can do for you than trying to take the thing apart. What you probably need is their Dual Stage lift element installed on the chair. That may be something that you can actually pay a little bit and have them install.
