convert scan to text

Is scanning software capable of converting scanned text into editable text any reliable? If so, what good ones are there out there for free. Does Acrobat 5.0 do it? I appreciate any feedback from your own experiences.

there is software out there that does this, in fact there is different hardware that can read actual documents as well like a pen reader/scanner. Most good software that comes with your scanner can edit a scan. Search at http://www.downloads.com

If you have Microsoft Office, you will find a tool in Microsoft Office Tools menu called Microsoft Office Document Scanning and then convert into PDF. But if you don't want to use those stuff, i strongly suggest go to http://www.download.com to search some softwares...
