I finished editing of a short film i was working on for some time now. Unfortunately it's not a whole movie. I abandoned the project and this is the final edit (meaning i won't be returning to this project anymore).
The story is that everything we experience at this moment is just reminiscence, an experience by people of the future (without our interaction) as such they can freely take one person’s memory and merge it with another's... Thus influencing our perception of reality.
A few pointers to clarify some issues that would be more explained if the project was fully done:
1. The pink and blue gel are memories of two different people. As the gels are intertwined the people’s memories are changed as well.
2. The yellow gel belongs to a person who died in his childhood. Unfortunately people of the future made a mistake of trying to access the time period when the person was already dead causing "system shut down."
3. All interior shots should have old CG refrigerators. When i realized that the project will never be finished i decided not to bother (as it's very time consuming).
4. There is no sound.
5. Movie was shot with superb Panasonic DVX100 at 30p.10 mins. 23 MB. QuickTime.

I wasn't getting any sound on my computer but I watched a little of it. Stylistically-very cool-you ever see Cronenberg's "Spider"? Kinda new. Nothing like this-but the character was always tying up these ropes around his room. Anyways-cool colors-and a good start

there is no sound. the CG stuff (fridges, if u got that far) and editing too way too long. at this momment it's just finished edit. there should be sound, but there won't be.
thanks!
No, i didn't see "spider" although someone else told me to watch it too.

hmm.. not very intense.
you could have used some more exciting lighting..
it's rather flat.
but anyway, get on with it!
it's a waste to leave it unfinished!

no man, it's going back on the shelve. Right now i'm working on something (less sci-fi but more exciting) that should be finished (in 3 months).

very, very nice effort pr2, i know how long it takes to put even shorts together like this. i have a question... how did you get the soft yellow cast, was that in post?
- pr2-4
yes, i shifted the hue towards yellow (no, not in 3-way color correction). There is this button that lets you shift overall hue. Then i made the darks cold bluish/grenish.

i wasn't seeing how it was "sci-fi", and it was way too slow.
interesting visuals, i guess, if you've never played with gak before.

interesting concept

'i wasn't seeing how it was "sci-fi"'
what other genre would u put it under?'and it was way too slow'
yeah, it definately isn't a music video.

OK, I am always eager to comment on films.
The film start like a kubrick film. Unfortunately it is a bit short. Because from the moment the man enters the screen the viewers focus goes to the person. Instead I would spent more time to shown the location, to let the viewer get acquinted with the setting and to set the mood. You can easily develop a top location like this as an character itself.
I would have started with the woman before the man. The woman has more charism and personlity. But this is just opinion.
I think the part between this scene and the whole paint shit scene is a bit long. It is impossible for the viewer to see where the movie is going to. It reminds me of Albert Pyun I have recently seen. Although you do a much better job than him I must admit. The whole setting is perfect though, but it lacks a bit of story-development. or tension.
The relationship between the two is also unclear and therefor the viewer does not know how to interpret the scene.I like the contrast between the scenery and mood of the movie and the paint things. Although the whole purpose of these thing remain unclear to me.
To conclude I think the whole scenery, location and mood in the film is good. The story lacks development and cannot grib the viewers intention.
Good luck anyway, cuase I can see you are a talented filmmaker.

I dig the look that the Panasonic DVX100 provides. The cinematography is really nice. Just keep it up.

Thanks!
E: some good comments. Over all the weaknesses you pointed out made me abandon it and focus on another project. Lack of dramatic tension between the characters and lack of clarification of the story. I was actually told by someone to develop this piece as the location/mood film, but i decided not too. I fealt i already payed more attention to the visuals than the rest of the story.
Anyway the project gave me lots of insignts into what my camera can/cannot do, lighting etc. My next project is way more story driven with much more sophisticated relation between the characters.
