How would I go about transporting video clips from a DVD and VHS into a Mini DV tape??
I know for a VHS I have to get some sort of cable to connect to the VHS machine to the mini DV cam. What's that cable? Also really need info on the DVD.
Thnx

You are going to have to record DVD footage to HD and then DVD footage to MiniDV.
What video editing software are you using and PC or MAC?
Fairly easy process that I do all the time.

Bread Heater is to Toaster
as
VHS machine is to VCR
oh yeah, BTW: I'm a prick!

I have Premiere and AfterEffects in my home computer (which has firewire, of course) as well as a mini DV cam.
This is for work, and none of the computers at work has firewire. So, I was thinking of saving the video clips at work on a mini DV tape, take it home, and do the video editing there.
As I understand it, I wouldn't be able to save DVD footage onto a mini DV tape. Is that true? Something to do with a Macrovision chip? Or does that only apply to DVD movies? Everything I'm dealing with is corporate documentary stuff.

DVDs I run my on my playstaion2(it has a firewire port in the front).
Then set the camera to VCR and press record when you see it play on the Cameras screen.
For VHS you can run the RCA cables from VCR 'Out' to your camera and set it up the same as mentioned above.
Hope that helped. How do you not have firewire at work?
Or try this VCR, rca cables out into your computer, then firewire it into your home computer to record.

Thnx gfro.
It would be weird to request a Playstation 2 to do this, but if it works...
THere's a lot that's lacking at work...including the pay...heheheh
