How do department stores make money? Those stores are huge and even with their volume, they must not make much profit if all the products are like 15%+ off retail all the time. The utilities and rent must be a fuck ton of $.

How do corner stores / bodegas actually make money? I have one near me that only sells candy and soda and a few kinds of beer, maybe cigarettes. How much can you make when you sell cans of soda individually?

Life is good right now. We got a new rental, a brand new condo we know the owners. We are paying $1825 in an area that comps at $2300. Promotion at my company and xmas tree is full of gifts. Wife is happy, kids are happy, I'm happy.

I went to a mall today and it's sickening how much crap there is out there and how much stuff people buy for no reason. I feel bad that we contribute to that.
I feel like I could throw everything I own out except for a TV and computer and some kitchen things and be as happy.

Listening is one of my fave things to (increasingly). But i just went to a small tech shop nearby, and a sales guy was running off at the mouth about what headphones he liked instead of hearing about what I needed.

So I decided to stop buying things for 6 months. I'm on month 4. I've only bought food, beer, and gas and paid all my bills. NOTHING else. I paid off all my credit cards and yesterday sent the payment for the remainder of my student loans. In a few days I will be completely debt free.
