I need to rant about this.
My android phone had a hardware problem a while ago and I sent it to the service, in the meantime my uncle had an extra Iphone 5s around, he said I can use that.
Last time when I had an Iphone was in 2010 with 3s. Since then I was an android user without knowing that I was actually in heaven.
Everything started with the the Android to Iphone transfer process. As someone who is used to Android's easy peasy sign on process Iphone greeted me with a bunch of modal screens opening on top of each other. That was definitely not a linear process.
So I went through those screens by entering my Apple ID and pass couple of times and the transfer began. Of course this machine didn't have enough capacity to store all my photos and it had to stop at some point.
Since everything was backedup on Google I wanted to bulk delete all the photos that's transferred to the Iphone. Alas, I didn't know that it was mission impossibru.
First of all, Iphone is NOT a mobile phone. Because it requires an apple computer always and forever. You have to connect that damn cable to your Apple and launch Itunes. So bulk delete say 1500 photos is not possible just by using phone, it gets jammed.
I was not near a computer so the only way to delete those was to completely format the phone with factory settings and go through the same sign-on torment again.
After 24 hours hours I was able to use my new(old) Iphone. First thing that I wanted to do was to organize the screens and move app icons around. Because on android you can move app shortcuts around almost freely. In Iphone that's not possible, they all have to be stacked on top of each other. You can't leave a gap in between rows of icons. So the screens looks like a mess.
I also realized how small the screen was. It was fucking tiny. I had to zoom everything it was almost claustrophobic.
Iphone 5s came out at the end of 2013 with this tiny screen.I was using Google nexus in 2011 with 4.65" screen and there were even bigger screens around then. So while android users were enjoying super large screens Iphone users were a step ahead of Blackberry at the beginning of this decade.
I don't know what changed on new Iphones except bigger screens but man there's no way Apple will survive against Android if they don't improve everything.
Yes one advantage of Iphone is that it doesn't heat up or crash like an Android but that was when phones had 1GB ram. With bigger rams I don't think Androids have that problem anymore.Overall, Android is way ahead in user experience. Iphone's only advantage was manufacturing the hardware but with Pixel that advantage is gone too. So if you're a still Iphone user switch to Android and join the club.
- There are only two things keeping people on iPhone:********
- 1) The iPhone itself is a pretty nice device. You may prefer others, but the iPhone is definitely a great design.********
- 2) iPhone users are afraid to change. That's it.********
- The ones who are afraid to change are pretty girls and old people I guess. It's a suitable system for them.Beeswax
- That's not at all true. There are plenty of male iPhone users, and plenty of young iPhone users.********
- ^ LOL @ you two. the first for the crappy statistics the second one for replying to that crappy stuff. maybe I'm too high and it's a serious discussion...haha!********
- @nb I've never seen a male iphone user. Even if there's one he's probably wearing woman outfits at home.Beeswax
- Nah, i'm fine with my iPhone, fanks. Used Android for a few years prior, battery life and software jank is appalling no matter the device.face_melter
- Also, how's that Android malware treating you?face_melter

Portugal today...
My parents village started to be partially evacuated one hour ago...
My Mother will evacuate if necessary, my Father will stay and fight.
He's 70 years old.I'm in contact with friends and it will be a fucking long night...
- ********6
My Mother called and was picked up to a safe area, closest city.
It's just 10Km away but as the roads are completely surrounded by forests in these cases that can be a serious problem. My Father stayed in the Village to help the Fire Squad, he used to be in Firefighter himself, but it seems it will get better and tomorrow they're expecting rain.
I'll roll a big joint and try to get some sleep now...

- Near Viseu. I managed to talk to my mother in the morning, the houses were ok, but the olive trees got a bit burneddmay

working in the only educational establishment in ireland open today due to storms. getting out at 12, for a 2km walk home in 130 km/h winds... very few students here, staff with kids, or anyone that lives outside the city. what a fuck up.

i open my fb feed and all of sudden a few random girls in my feed are re-posting some bs campaign called #metoo that is trying to get people who have been victims (of either sexual harassment or assault - which is a huge difference) to post on facebook in order to create awareness. this is social media failure at its finest. i assure you this creates more harm than does good. first it pressures people who have been victimized and are not even comfortable talking about it much less publicly admitting it on facebook, second it brings up traumatizing memories for many, thirdly it doesn't create any awareness whatsoever more than reading about the actual sexual abuse statistics online.

- Without you, they too might be harming themselves and others like them by posting "me too" on their Facebook profiles.monospaced
- i have a few people in my feed posting it but that is all - proof that not all people who are abused want to share about it on fb. statistics #'s are way higherbliznutty

- Pretty much everyone I know near the female spectrum posted #metoo...pango
- yep. Same here pangokona
- I'm seeing it a lot too. I am not at all diminishing any experiences any woman has been through, so do not misread this. But I definitely wonder how manymg33
- are joining in who's experiences are vastly different from those of the women who are accusing Weinstein of rape, assault, inappropriate behavior, etc.mg33
- I've seen at least one person post #metoo and then complain about being catcalled crossing the street.mg33
- Again, I'm just asking the question and thinking through it. Does it merge all the variety of ways women have been treated into one defining identity, or,mg33
- does it dilute the severity of rape, assault, etc. when it's merged with instances typically deemed less severe or not even criminal?mg33
- Again... just asking this as part of this discussion and interested in your take on this.mg33
- In public perception it might if people can't differentiate between assault and harassment. But I doubt it in court.pango

I've been freelancing/contracting all year and its been great. By great I mean I've been doing minimal work and making good money (the tax write offs make it worth it). I've also been maximizing my free time. Traveling, working remotely and pursuing hobbies.
My recruiter set me up with an interview for a very lucrative full time position. Mellow company that pays really fucking well. Stable industry. Let me emphasize A LOT OF MONEY. like bonuses out the ass at the end of the year. This is on top of Christmas bonus, pension, and all the other good stuff.
For some reason I'm not all the interested? am I crazy? I really value my time and freedom right now. I have no kids or spouse or even a pet. And I'd have to stay in my current city that is ok but I've been having fun exploring and working remotely.
I did really well in the interview. Figures since I was in an ambivalent mood about it all.
- is it possible to talk to them about the idea of melding both worlds? Some remote work time, since you have proven you can do that.capn_ron
- ^ it's sure worth a try.Gnash
- another way to look at it is use this gig to finance your next life phase. take the LOT OF MONEY and invest wisely - have a clear goal for the next step.Gnash

If I really went back through my old email accounts, I'd probably find some seriously ridiculous things in there from several different people. Just like old cold cases solved by DNA, these guys aren't ready for the emails, video evidence, and buried reports. I'm just not sure why anyone would leave a digital record of speaking to employees, vendors or peers this way but it happens all the time. This here is just a short and rather mild excerpt of what I dealt with from one particular CD that manages creative for a worldwide luxury brand. This is also at 3 or 4 am. I know some of you think women are being too sensitive, but I'm really looking forward to not having to humor twats like this just to get a check.
When I push back at these guys, I'm labeled either emotional (because vagina) or angry (because I'm also black). When I don't push back, I'm fun and exotic. Surprise, surprise no more work from this client after I blocked him on FB. He used to text me the worst things, but I changed my phone number years ago. So, he switched to harassing me on FB instead.
This guy is married. He also knows I've been in a relationship for over a decade. I've never dated him, his friends or anyone he knows. But, he's known me for 15+ years (in a professional sense). He's a fucking slime ball and I get the chills just thinking about his lame forced hugs.
- Ew********
- I would very carefully (VERY carefully) try to send some anonymous screenshots to his wife.********
- It would be really scary and difficult to send them, though, because he could maybe figure it out and you don't want that********
- But goddamn, if my partner was behaving this way I would want to know!********
