what's wrong with making a site that works on all browsers?

ie 5.2 for mac as that is the bulk of my demographic.
used to use netscape but 7.x is a big steaming pile. 5.x was awesome, but i've given up on them now.
use safari now and then but am not completely sold on it.

I use safari, IE on the mac is better than IE on windows, I stopped using it because of it's cheap look and no option to block pop-ups. That's the biggest thing that pisses me off, Microsoft is paid by companies to not block pop-ups, and half the companies it owns have pop-up producing sites, so they will never implement a native pop-up blocker to their browser.
In Closing, Safari is what I use. IE is what I use when Safari rarely doesn't work with a website.

i can't stand ie on mac os x.
piece of crap. buggy. slow.i've been using safari since it came out. it's support of standards, speed, tabbed browsing and easy organization of bookmarks makes it fun to work with.
some mozilla browsers show promise as well. camino and firebird. camino is well thought out and firebird is really simple and striaght forward and pretty quick as well. omniweb isn't bad either.
as far as testing goes, i test in them all on both platforms if possible.
opera, safari, mozilla, netscape 7.0, ie, firebird, camino, omniweb.
i know it may seem redundant with the various mozilla based builds, but on occasion you come across quirks..

Get Firebird and the Web Developer extension. It turned me off Safari.

IE 5.2 ...and I wish that when I clicked on the IE icon in my dock that a new browser would open. Any suggestions?

as much as i like Macs (i'm on PC but still like that computer)... being on the net with any of the Mac browsers is just pain in the ass.

in your opinion, have mac users been conditioned to switching between browsers if some sites they go to don't work in another?
or do you not experience incompatibility issues enough to warrant this type of action?
- ganon0
i only have to switch out of safari once in a very great while...but it does happen....

Safari is rarely messing up viewing site for me, but there are a few.

Safari
the only sites that don't work in Safari are badly coded sites.
I don't think Mac users in general switch between browsers.
I think only power users in general do.
Joe Consumer wouldn't even understand the concept.

1. Safari
2. Camino*
3. Internet Explorer^*
Camino was my primary browser on the Mac prior to Safari.^
Internet Explorer runs just fine on OS X 10.3 but the appearance is not as nice and there are no extra features such as tabbing.

netscape7
still on os9 (no mozilla or safari for me) and like having a browser and email all in one. yum yum.
is slow though :(
