i never got my diploma because i was to lazy to go to the post office and pick it up.
hows your portfolio?
- nLHb0
No difference whatsoever. People want experience not schooling.
Where did you get your diploma from?
- mrdobolina0
it has almost all to do with portfolio, my man.
- Mimio0
I see BFA requirements in job postings all the time. It definitely helps.

thought so, i got it from ai of vancouver
i bet this thing can fly if i make a paper plane out of it

not having a design edumacation might limit you from applying to art director or creative director positions,
but yeah, once you have the experience down, you should be able to move up to positions like that.
congrats!

i was at a crossroad last year if i should go for a degree or start working.
i ended up taking the offer, completed rest of school part-time, enough for diploma and working ever since
so can portfolio be more influential in salary means or a degree?
- brundlefly0
I think so, hell I am living proof
- Mimio0
1) Almost all of the best designers have a formal education.
2) Education IS experience.
- mrdobolina0
degree will most definitely bring you more money than not having one.

My Multimedia Production diploma is somewhere under a pile of garbage in my office, I should put it on my fridge with my forklift driving certificate!
I had TONS of fun in school though and I learned a lot so I wouldn't trade that experience for anything.
If you have a strong portfolio and a slick way to sell yourself you should be fine.
- brandelec0
that's all true
thanks guys
see you in class then
- brandelec0
holy sh*t thats hilarious brundle
i thought i was looking at myslef for a sec
- nLHb0
Mimio, education is NOT experience. According to employers anyways. You need experience to get a job but you can't get a job cause you have no experience.
- brandelec0
i thought employers only say 'experience mandatory' to filter out the wimps that think they're automatically counted out
my boss told me 'experience shexpirience, just show up with a kickass folio, nice suit and hair gel'
- Mimio0
My education involved practicum courses with real clients as well as an internship. That's why I said what I did.
- brandelec0
mimio, where'd you graduate
- Mimio0
University of Michigan.
