like with most things, get the best if you can afford it, go with the 40 GB. I have it and it is wonderful. Just make sure if you bring it to the gym you have it protected and insured.

Apple Store: Save $30 on $299 or more "Buy online at the Apple Store by February 14 and you can save $30 instantly on any order totaling $299 or more
so you could get the 40 for an ok price with that...
also
Amazon has the 3G iPod 20GB for $370.24. This model includes the dock, earbuds, remote control, carrying case & AC adapter.

If you were doing cardio at the gym I would've said buy the 40 gig, but since you're only doing weights, you should be fine with the 30 gig.

'I have about 30 Gigs of music on my home cpu (PC)
B.most of that music sucks'I'd therefore suggest spending the money on buying better music, and buy a 2nd hand / reconditioned iPod.

yeah, u don't wanna drop your ipod... that thing's more fragile than a baby!

dropped mine 7 times and counting... still kicking just fine.

got the 1. generation 5Gb for some time now, and dropped it many many times and still working jujst fine. it fit around 900 songs and is more than i ever need, and if i do need something new i delete some old stuff. you can still find it some placed, and it really cheap now. i like the first one better, because it has real buttons, scrollwheel and the sharp edges. untouched, straight from the designers hand, not modified to fit the public hands. just my 2 cents

that is what you need!
I've got the 40Gb too, thought you'd want to go to this site first for some research...

iPodlounge is your friend
this is what I got as a case: http://ipodlounge.com/reviews_mo…

on the headphone tip, if you hate in ears, and don't like wearing great big cups on your ears I recommend the sony MDR-G57 - note the lovely reflector bits on the back of each ear piece - be safe, be seen....

I bought the i-river instead, it's got an fm tuner in it and you can encode your mp3s in any bitrate you like, plus it comes in black.

i got the ipod mini...people say its expensive...blah blah....i will never need more than 4gigs on a mp3 player....this splurging on gigs is brainwashing from all those crazy ipod head and apple...40gigs????wtf?...u gonna store all your psd's avi's and mpegs?...so if you have 40gigs of mp3s, I wonder how many songs you can listen to in a week....this craze of gigabytes is the American Bloated Dream.
