thanks for nothing.

Fantastic. Aznar's government out, and unless the UN takes control in a REAL peacekeeping mission, the troops come home. Bush next, then maybe we can start responding to terrorism in a constructive way....

I agreed...
I´m glad thinking in that government change will resolve years of stupid political actions...Is becoming the PEACE for basque country??
... 4 years later we will see...

The next to go home will be Berlusconi, in Italy.

John Howard (Australia) isnt far off either. to busy with foreign affairs to bother with domestic problems

don't know what the hell we are going to do in the uk, i wish labour would get rid of tony, god knows we don't want the tories!!
anyone noticed the huge numbers of police in london at the moment? we have massive security at work as well...

the world response has been a help, the tributes etc. The bombs woke me up on thursday morning, my wife had just left for work. absolute horror.

i can't imagine anything more terrifying spaniard.

Human response to tragedy is an amazing thing. To see all those people helping even in hellish scenes.

Spaniard, how do you suggest we start responding to terrorism in a constructive way? Also, I am very very sorry for the goings on in your neighborhood. Horrible thing.
- jg_20
and the response from our (old) government to the attack was absolutely amazing.
i have never seen so much dis-information (ok, maybe in the usa...etc...etc...). lies lies lies.
and the pain of the victims? nevermind. just for the newspapers show. human pieces everywhere. omg.
PP said they go with clean hands and everything well done.
this is sarcasm, isn it?

what's really scary about that spain thing is the fact that it seems that in this case change of government is a direct result of terrorism.
this will send the wrong message to terrorists.
meaning terrorism can work,
and is not in vain.it can make changes to countries and change the course of worldwide politics...
i always believed that the best way to deal with terrorism is not to allow it to change our lives.
sadly it's not all that easy.i think the root cause of terrorism lies in the us itself,
they've mad too many bad decisions in international politics, rather than being the freedom loving policeman of the workd, they've turned into the bully and exploiters of the world.
until they change it, nothings going to change about terrorism.

Yeah it was so fucked. I was in tears when i saw it on the news.. all the bloodied, damaged corpses everywhere. So so sad.
This is nowhere near as bad as what happened in Madrid... but... My brother lives in Bilbao (basque country). I worry about him alot. They get a fair few bomb scares and the occasional car bomb :(. I wish he'd live somewhere else.
I remember taking his dog for a walk a couple of years ago and being unable to get back to his flat for ages because the streets had been sectioned off due to a bombscare. Scary stuff. A year or so ago, a bomb went off just 5 mins walk from where he lives. :(. Los Bastardos.

terrorism does change lives, you cant prevent that, and it will make us change our ways. The only constructive way to deal with terrorism is throught negotiations. But you will always have extreme splinter cells, but they will soon be quashed by the tide of opinion.
there is hope.
- jg_20
the reason of this change IS NOT TERRORISM.
aznar made a big mistake. he was ignoring the peoples voice everytime. he ignored some strikes, he ignored the complains about the Prestige, he ignored....
and he ignored the War-confrontation. more than the 90% of the spanish population didnt wanted war.yes, terrorism was one of the points. but aznar made it wrong, from the begining til the end.

that sucks nessdog. hope your bro is ok - mine is an airline pilot in italy and mum freaks out every time any of this shit starts.
two arguments of the same coin would be that either the terrorists are winning by getting people to vote for govts that don't have such an aggressive foreign policy, or that public feeling that going to war would increase terrorist attacks was a tragically well founded fear.

contribute. first of all using a bit of common sense, everyone knows that you don't put out a fire by chucking buckets of petrol at it, uniting countries rather than dividing them, pacifism and strength through international co-operation and intelligence - our leaders constantly tell terrorists they will achieve nothing by the bullet or bomb, so why should it work the other way around? violence and blind vengeance solve absolutely nothing - is sharons eye for an eye policy getting anywhere in israel? accepting responsibility for foreign pòlicy and long term strategy for a common good rather than political/economic gain etc. etc. etc. Overall though, I would say that the winning response to terrorism is staring us in the face here in madrid - there has been no anti muslim backlash, resounding dignity and solidarity, and many who were prepared to put their own lives on the line to save people last thursday.

so true spaniard.
