Ok.. I searched the PVN and found a bunch of stuff but nothing that made any sense to me.
What I am trying to do:
Load a "news" section in a flash site from an external XML file. No scrolling necessary. What I am looking for:
an FLA and XML file example that I can take apart and figure out.Anyone?
Thanks,
TR

Haven't tried this myself but it looks good.

I am getting totally lost in those links... I think I am one step away from even being able to understand any of that stuff.
Does anyone have a simple FLA/XML file I could take apart? I've searched FlashKit and ultrashock but nothing is exactly what I need. It is all overly complicated so I can't tell what I need and what I don't.
Thanks,
TR

XML is a little complicated. You can't just load an XML file in one step and use it in flash. It needs to be parsed.
So search for an XML parser tutorial.

well...you don't need to parse your xml into a massive series of custom objects if you simply refer to stuff by it's node index..for instance...
just keep track of the tree to path from root to your desired node...and you will be fine...
myXML.firstChild.childNodes[2].c...
or something like that

that totally broke up all the code I just wrote...
oh well
