anyone see it?
Awesome movie i thought.
It probably would be doing better if they carried out the love story like 99% of all other movies.....*sigh*

saw it
hanks was good, zeta jones needs some acting classes tho. a handfull of characters were not developed at all, which really distracted me and kept me from enjoying the movie. we saw it at the drive in... so thank goodness it was a double feature. dodgeball was good. classic stiller.

haven't seen it yet but i'm wondering how the scene ends when he's in the bathroom shaving and the guy next to him asks "sometimes doesn't it just feel like your living in an airport"
on the trailer it last for like 20 seconds and th doesn't say anything. eventually does he stab the guy in the eye with his razor or what?!?
- e-wo0
what's in the trailer is pretty much the entirety of that scene
- k0na_an0k0
no stabbing. : (
that movie is bullshit then.

bathroom spoiler
he throws the fat guy in a stall then shuvs his head in teh toilet, flushes it and says, "how about living in a toilet! is that any better? huh punk?"
tom hanks rocks yo sox

there is no stabbing--but Kumar Pallana threatens to kill Tom Hanks
- JazX0
yeah
- jevad0
Kumar Pallana was fucking great in that movie - and the tennenbaums...
- loudubs0
what's the cultural motive behind this film? Context?
- puter0
I don't know- the idea of a guy who isn't aloud on a plane yet the Manager of the terminal let's him LIVE there seems a bit far fetched...
personally, Hanks annoys me- he plays his rolls good but always looks like he is "acting"...I'll wait until HBO airs it 23 hours a day to see it.

i heard it was based on a true story about a guy in france who has been stuck in the french airport for 19 years
- jevad0
yes its a bit far fetched in places - but use your imagination and take it for what it is - a highly enjoyable film - actually based on a bloke in charles de gaulle airport in paris who has been living there for 20 years...
- loudubs0
boy, when i read the story about the guy in the DeGaulle airport four years ago, i wish I would've churned out a script...but, hey, why would i want to waste a good story of tom "nasa" hanks.
- bedenken0
I liked it. Kumar Pallana stole the show for me. I think it could have been a stronger film if Tom Hanks didn't play the lead. He always seems like "Tom Hanks the big star" to me, rather than the character he is playing.
I liked the opening titles too.
- loudubs0
so, he arrives on a plane alone from his home country? or he arrives on a place with fellow country people?
- noop0
it's based on true story, yes. a guy gets 'exiled' from his country (or whatever the word is now), and is sent to france. his passport gets stolen so now, he can't leave the airport...supposedly his country wouldn't i.d. him either to the airport because of his exile or wtf ever. he was released after so many years but got screwed up in the head and still lives there on his own free will.
and that's when everybody dies.
- nLHb0
and that's when everybody dies.
noop
(jun 22 04, 11:03)omg ha ha ha ha!
- loudubs0
so everyone else from the country, the other exiles, have their passports and they're ok! So why didn't they call this movie Passport to Mediocrity?
- e-wo0
watch it.
it's great.
there are some questionable parts ofthe premise, but it's great Spielberg.
