Finder --> Go -->Connect to server
- mijlee0
go to;
System Preferences/Sharing
make sure that 'Personal file sharing'
below this it should have some details of what number/name you need to use to connect.
Now you can either got Go/connect to server or;
in finder click on Network/local/
and your other machine should be listed (it also needs to have Personal File Sharing switched on)

Same procedure if you are using Airport cards.
You can also use a Firewire cable, and just make sure Firewire is the top-most in the Network Port pane. Just choose DHCP, No DNS config needed as you are only ever using it for the crossover. Four times faster than Ethernet!
Your other settings for Ethernet or Airport access to the internet are unaffected by having the IP-over-Firewire setup active.
