Capital of Corporates and everybody is a player. Go with Road Runner.

you don't need a stinking connection stupe, just turn on your wireless laptop anywhere in the city and you'll find a line...

Err, I have Opt Online in the Bronx and average about 600k/sec downloads, but often get over a meg/sec. Neighborhood could be the reason though as I'm sure not THAT many people have cable. If your in manhatten, im sure it will be different.

RCN has the best service downtown. Time Warner was more expensive, and had more downtimes. At the moment, RCN has a 7mbit upgrade service as a promotional tool for like 4 months I think.
I've had a minor issue with the net being extremely slow, but that's now fixed.
Go to: dslreports.com
But I'd say:
- avoid Verizon at all costs.
- go for RCN over Time Warner
- if you can get Optimum Online, get that over all.Hope this helps!

Road Runner and Optimum Online are both excellent for bandwidth and stability.
I've got OO at the moment and average about 520k downloads.
One small thing - watch OO's policy on multiple IP's and tunneling VPN. They try and make you pay $45 for each new IP on your connection (but just get a router and you're in) - otherwise, kick arse service and well worth it.

cablevision in the bronx, people here can't afford high speed so the bandwidth is wide open

Cablevision now has a 3-fer:
1. Digital Cable $30
2. VOIP phone $30
3. Cable Hi-Speed $30Check if it's available where u move. It's like 10x faster than my Verizon DSL
