VISUAL DESIGNER INTERNSHIP AT IBM
*Must be currently enrolled full-time student. Terms of position are non-negotiable.
IBM's Silicon Valley Lab in San Jose, CA has an opening for a paid Visual Designer intern. We are currently looking for a person to start around
January 2004 for a six month internship.Job description:
The visual designer intern works with other Visual Designers, Information Developers (writers), and Human Factors Engineers, to develop graphics in user interfaces for enterprise software products, web design,
technical illustration and print. Design interns apply their skills to create effective and visually compelling designs and aid in evaluation and user
testing to ensure that bjectives are met.Proficiency Level
Graphical user interface design 2
GUI implementation 2
Bit-map editors (e.g., Photoshop)
4
Vector-based editors (e.g., CorelDraw)
4
Creative graphic design 4
Skill in visualizing abstract concepts
3
Database concepts & technology
2
Web-based UIs (HTML, XML, Java, Flash)
3(1=no experience 5=Master)
Education:
Field of study: Graphic Design, Art/Design, Human-ComputerInterfaces.
Internship candidates must be enrolled in a degree program.Requirements:
A portfolio of your visual design work.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Ease working in a dynamic,schedule-driven, team environment.Plus:
Familiarity with the visual design environment.
Ability to quickly learn new graphics editing tools.

The point is not what happened before most of us were born. The point is that this is a paid internship for a design student. It's how I got my job and I'm just trying to pay it forward to the community. Take it or leave it.

Nice of them to pay an intern, but i have a few friends who used to work there and they got treated like family, jobs for life etc but once things went a bit bad it was bye bye with no handshakes. Left a very bitter taste. But thats corporations in general i guess
