is there a maximum movie clip height?
for me it seems to coincide with the stage height which i'm setting through javascript. if the height goes a little north of 8000px, the movie clip no longer will match the height of the stage. only a portion of it. as the stage height increases from there, so does the movie-clip height, but only by minimal increments.
ps. this is being done w/ windowless/transparent settings in flash mx 2004 pro.

you could make it at a smaller size and scale it using AS.

make what a smaller size? to give you a better understanding of what's going on, the flash stage needs to 'hover' over the content of a page and it needs to match it's dimensions. with a content heavy page, the body could easily exceed 8000px+. a movie clip will be set, through action script to increase in height to match the height of the stage. this functionality is already in place, but fails.
stage scale mode is set to noScale.

why not make it Flash only?
If u make your movie 100% width and height in the html page, using a Stage Listener and noscale you'll be able to have whatever content size you want...

that's exactly what i'm doing, but if the content pushes the document to over 8000px, then the following doesn't work as expected:
ol = new Object();
ol.onResize = function () {_root.mc_bg._height=Stage.heigh...
Stage.addListener(ol);

something else i should note is that i've got the flash object inside of a div tag with position set to absolute. this allows the flash movie to have dimensions greater than whatever the browser is set to.
in onload and window.resize events, this is executed:
id1.style.height=document.body.o...
since the flash movie is set at 100% for w&h, it will expand to the divs dimensions.

I see. strange... probably another one of those 'undocumented' bugs...

my thoughts exactly.
