hi there

I assume you have Distilled it as well?
- bomy_dick0
it doesn't seem to open with distiller

If its a quark doc, save out as a Post script file and then drop that PS file onto distiller, this will create a PDF, or "export to PDF" (you need an extension)
I would help you more but I am not that technical on this stuff.
Maybe someone else could be more helpful
Good luck

STOP.
PDF is a printed format. You should not try to distill PDFs, this leads to all kinda shit.
PDFs aren't really suitable for editing for various long winded reasons that I am too busy to get into - but believe me it ain't.
The correct workflow you need to do use is the following:
1. Get the document that the PDF was made from.
2. Edit to taste.
3. Print to file to obtain your PS file.
4. Make ALL settings in Distiller and only then drop your PS file onto it to create your PDF.
5. If you're not happy change the Distiller settings and drop the PS file on it again.

If you have Acrobat 6 Professional go to the advanced menu and click on PDF Optimser, here you can crunch that file to a slither of it's former self :)
If you don't have 6 not sure.

well, i've tried a few frewware but nothing beats acrobat. it's the perfect tool to do that.
in fact i need two things : compress and resize pdf pages, (batch process) rename tham , and also extract the text to a clean word doc. pdfconverter 2 is the perfect sharware for that.
then i make my catalog : here :

1. Open it in Acrobat.
2. Click File... Reduce File Size...
3. Save it with a new name.
4. Compare new with old.
5. Marvel at how small the new file is.Simple...

yes.. simple .. but way too late mate
and it's not through reduce file size u get the best results ; u get 30 mb out of 47mb
sorry

question for you guys (not to hijack) but say im using InDesign, what is the difference between exporting as pdf vs printing to the distiller?
- ifThenGo0
Oops just posted this in the wrong tread;
When InDesign flattens areas affected by transparency it has to rasterize everything.
Make sure you have this set to HIRES and see if that looks any better,
