Go with the Mac, esp for the print part of the job, and there is always a pc around to test the web side. Most of the time my clients (small time I know) want to make sure a site works on their grandma's old Windoze 98 system and often don't care if it works on a mac.

"most likely never use the power of 2 G5s" ...
eh? isn't photoshop pretty much an industry standard... and if you are a designer, isn't the majoirty of your time spent in photoshop?
also, the dual G5s work wonders with the curent flash player. my dual G5 at work gets about the same framrate as the high-end PCs there...

You are right gabe. I have been so used to the duals not useing both processors for most applications I forgot about the most obvious.
As far as frame rates.. the G5 is a huge improvement over the G4 but it is about 75% of a fast PCs framerates. But still nothing to sneeze at.
I agree with these guys, if they will buy you 2 computers, Fast G5, Fast Cheap dell and 2 21inchers.
Only reason I said Imac G5 is because it really is fast and you get a sweet 20 inch monitor. And I suggested this because companies will ussually go for a G5 imac over all the other equipment combined as all that would end up being 2 times as much or more. 2k vs 4k+

if doing flash get a pc... coz even the software runs shite on a mac :(

flash runs shit on a mac?
The 3d guy will be producing stuff also for the web.. also I'l most probably be using flash and director to combine with the 3d elements.
I'l be working for them on print and web projects Inhouse.

Iam currently using a G5 dual 2gz with 2 12inch monitors here.( current Job- but a shit job stil no matter the equipment) I think I'd personally rather take 1 23 inch over 2 21inch.

My advice would be to get whatever the other designers are working with at that company.
You'll be sharing files, probably help each other out troubleshooting hard/software, etc. etc.

...just a thought for the others...
I bet that if he would be allowed to get both a mac and a pc he never would have asked which one to get in the first place.

Everyone is throwing get a mac, get a pc.
the thruth is, what does this agency uses? macs or pcs?
if you go with the "other brand" are they giving you the software too?If you are going to focus on web design there is little to no point in getting a mac.
I would say, get a pc, unless everyone in the office has a mac.
By the way, Im a mac user.
but it doesn't make sense we all know all the problems that design for the "pc industry" as is WEB, from the other side of the pole, save yourselfe hassles and troubles.

its not an agency- its inhouse design, me and a 3d designer will be the department.
Even with webdesign, I think Macs are better. Its going to be work for between Print and Web. But I cant really say which will be more. All I know is as someone whos been doing alot of print work over the past 3 years, the macs the dogs.
The 2 monitor thing.. I dont want to take the mick really. Who really needs 2 monitors unless you decoding the matrix.
