yeah because 3rd world debt is such a boring and irellevant topic to talk about. let's talk about something like girls with big mammory glands in fashion parades, that's much better
oh wait...

word, ants.
but then i think he means that u2 just talks about 3rd world debt and they just go play somewhere on a crowded road..
and selling out to computermanufacturers and what not.

hey arinya what do you think Vertigo is about? I'd like to hear your thoughts, if you've got any on the matter of lyrics.
omtc, I think U2 approached Apple about it. apparently Bono had the idea of doing it so the whole album-selling-via-the-internet is probably a proactive move on their behalf and they get known for how they embrace the technology. just a thought. better move than say.... Metallica.

"The band accepted no money for the ad but will get royalties on the U2 iPod."
so basically they're doing it for the music sales.

I got no beef with the lyrics. I admit that they do sound interesting. Haven't examined or meditated on Bono's lyrics but the song sound like ugh crap! I can't stand it. Very very weak. A shame really cuz I'm sure that it is a song with great meaning but sound like pop shite.

WHAT!!!
U2 are responsible for some of the best music of the last 15 years!!! Rattle & Hum? Joshua Tree?!!!
Fuckin monkeys.
Granted he's a twot these days and all this iPod shit is annoying but they are probabally the biggest band in the world.

I never understood why people love Achtung Baby, the singles from that album (except One) are horrid.

gee I really like it. I agree it's not really a Sunday Bloody Sunday but then there are other mad songs on the CD that I reckon are pretty sweet.
I think I have to have both though, even if a song sounds awesome I'll turn if off if the lyric is crap... so take LIVE for example... lyrics - I just don't agree with them. Music... umm.. I lost my point now.
Actually the whole U2 album is a cross between their early 80's stuff and the last album with a bit of Rattle and Hum / Joshua Tree thrown in. oh with some endings of songs from Achtung Baby.
soo... I have no point.

whether you like them or not you are childish to not realize that they are a great band with an outstanding record of hits and popularity... and U2 was the PERFECT band for Apple to work with becuase:
1. The are a respected band amoung all ages. They reach a larger audience that bands liek Sonic Youth with 15 albums, 1 hit, and only about 12 good songs.
2. Bono is an international celebrity
3. U2 are known for innovation- and so is Apple.
4. The ipod is far more significant than it's trend or color- this is history in the making.. a MAJOR rock band issue of all their material digitally.. this is the beginning of a new way to distripute music.

amen.

achtung baby = U2 + Brian Eno
which made their sound go new places.
I think I like their rock star afterlife better than Jane's Addiction or RHCP's. I mean Bono is still carrying the LiveAid torch which is pretty impressive on some level.
Music aside, his attempts to convert Jesse Helm's thinking is more interesting than apolitical trendoids who are only focused on their hair, outfits and drug habits and don't know where Uganda even is.
I mean for God's sake if you are a rock star can't you save the world with your rock and roll?

A certain music critic for a major paper here in Chicago gave it a scathing review. He thinks it's awful because it isn't doing anything new...
How silly is that? That as a band you don't prescribe to the Radiohead style of always doing something different than before. Keep in mind U2 already had their electronic days in some way, with Zooropa and Pop.
